February 7-9, 2025
Georgia College and State University
Milledgeville, Georgia
The Georgia Association of Historians invites proposals from professional historians, archivists, educators, independent scholars and current graduate students for its February 2025 annual conference, in Milledgeville, Georgia. We welcome submissions pertaining to all areas and subfields of history, preservation, and pedagogy. We also encourage innovative session formats such as roundtables and moderated discussions as well as traditional paper sessions. Proposals for full sessions are encouraged but not required. We also welcome interested undergraduates to submit proposals for posters to be displayed at the meeting. Accepted papers may be submitted for consideration to the peer-reviewed Journal of the Georgia Association of Historians, but conference acceptance does not guarantee publication. The deadline for conference proposal submissions is November 8, 2024.
Notification of a proposal’s acceptance will occur in late November.
Accepted papers will be due to chairs/commentators (see below) by January 24, 2025. Papers must be original works of scholarship. Due to time limitations, individual papers will be limited to 15-20 minutes. Roundtables should be structured to fit a ninety-minute time slot. Presenters must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in hand at the time the proposal is submitted. Undergraduates may still submit posters.
