We’re thrilled to welcome you to the opening of this year’s Georgia Association of Historians Conference. As a reminder, our festivities begin this evening with the Opening Reception (6pm) at the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum, located at 10 East Oglethorpe Avenue.
We can’t wait to see everyone there as we kick off another weekend of engaging presentations and discussions.
Registration for the conference opens at 8:45 AM at St. Vincent's Academy and our first panel sessions will begin at 10:00AM.
Please note that the conference at SVA begins Saturday morning NOT today. School is in session today, so please do not attempt entry.
As many of you prepare to travel to Savannah this weekend, please be aware that winter weather conditions may affect travel and pedestrian safety. Due to winter weather conditions, including ice and snow, attendees should anticipate possible road closures and travel delays in and around Savannah this weekend. Bridges, overpasses, and roads in the historic district may be temporarily closed if conditions become hazardous.
Savannah’s walkable historic district is an asset, but attendees should use caution on uneven surfaces that may become icy or slippery, especially in shaded areas and during early morning or evening hours. We recommend wearing footwear with good traction, allowing extra time when walking between venues, and monitoring local weather and road conditions prior to and during travel.
Your safety is important to us, and we appreciate your care and flexibility as conditions evolve.
Thank you and see you there!
