GAH Annual Meeting - Call for Proposals
Georgia Association of Historians Annual Meeting: February 3-5, 2023
Valdosta State University, Valdosta, Georgia
The Georgia Association of Historians invites proposals from professional historians and current graduate students of history for its February 2023 annual conference, in Valdosta, Georgia. We welcome submissions pertaining to all areas and subfields of history, preservation, and pedagogy. We encourage innovative session formats such as roundtables and moderated discussions in addition to traditional paper sessions. Proposals for full sessions are encouraged, but not required. We also welcome interested undergraduates to submit proposals for posters to be displayed at the meeting.
Travel grants for up to $300 will be available for a limited number of presenters from traditionally underrepresented groups, including graduate students, first-time presenters, and faculty at HBCUs, Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs), and other minority serving institutions (MSIs). Priority will go to those individuals who have demonstrated need, such as lack of support from their institution. Details on applying for these grants will be circulated at the time paper acceptances are announced.
Accepted papers may be submitted for consideration to the peer-reviewed
Journal of the Georgia Association of Historians,
though conference acceptance does not guarantee journal publication.
The deadline for proposal submission is September 9, 2022.
Extended Deadline: September 30, 2022
Notification of a proposal’s acceptance will occur in October 2022.
Accepted papers will be due to the chairs/commentators (see below) by January 14, 2023.
Please submit electronic proposals via Google Forms. For a panel or roundtable, prepare a single document in Microsoft Word format which includes the entire proposal (include panel/roundtable description, individual paper/contribution titles and abstracts, contact information, and one-page c.v. for each participant including, if appropriate, the chair and commentators). For a paper or poster, please prepare a single document with the paper title, abstract, and c.v. of the presenter. Please title with the organizer’s last name, type of session (Panel, Paper, Roundtable or Poster), and title of proposal: Lastname_Type_Title.docx. Once proposal document has been created, please complete the Google Form and upload document at https://tinyurl.com/yrbkpwkx.
