Directions to GAH Conference Site - Augusta University
GAH participants approaching the conference site on the Summerville Campus at Augusta University from the Partridge Inn should drive west on Walton Way, up the hill. At the third light, turn right onto Fleming Avenue, then make an immediate U-turn, return to the light, and then cross Walton Way onto the Augusta University campus. Please note that it is not permitted to make a left turn from Walton Way into the main campus access. Proceed 270 degrees around the round-about, and turn right onto Taylor Street, and follow Taylor Street as it winds to the right. At the first stop sign, continue straight, and then take the first right into Parking lot #106. There will be designated parking for the GAH. The conference registration is in the JSAC (Jaguar Student Activities Center), which is the closest building to parking lot #106. Enter the doors closest to the parking, and then proceed to the second floor, using either the stairs or elevator. Signs should guide you. The registration table is on the second floor, immediately outside the Coffeehouse room.
Participants driving directly to the conference should approach the campus on Walton Way (unless you are familiar with Augusta) – many will be driving east on Walton Way (if you are driving west, follow directions above). If headed east on Walton Way, drive to the main entrance of the Summerville Campus at Fleming Avenue. Turn right into the campus, proceed 270 degree around the round-about, and follow the direction given above.

Call for Proposals
*DEADLINE HAS PASSED*
The Georgia Association of Historians invites proposals from professional historians and current graduate students of history for its 2020 Conference in Augusta, GA. The GAH welcomes proposals from all areas and subfields of history, including African, North American, Asian, European, and Latin American history, global history, public history, historic preservation, and regional studies, as well as proposals focused on resource or archival management and historical pedagogy. We encourage innovative session formats such as roundtables and moderated discussions as well as traditional paper sessions. We also welcome interested undergraduates to submit poster proposals. State of the field presentations are also greatly encouraged. Proposals for full sessions will be given priority, although individual papers will be considered. Accepted papers may also be submitted for consideration to the Journal of the Georgia Association of Historians, though conference acceptance does not guarantee journal publication.
The deadline for proposal submission is November 8, 2019.
Notification of a proposal’s acceptance will occur in December 2019.
Accepted papers will be due to the chairs/commentators by January 10, 2020.
All proposals should include a 250-word description of the paper, session, roundtable, or poster and a one-page c.v. for each presenter. If a proposed session/roundtable is accepted without a chair/commentator, one will be assigned by the program committee.
Send electronic proposals in Microsoft Word format to Program Chair Lisa Denmark at: georgiaassociationofhistorians@gmail.com. Save the entire panel proposal (include individual abstracts, panel description, contact information, and one-page c.v. for each participant including the chair and commentators) in one document labelled with the organizer’s last name, type of session, and title of proposal: ex: Lastname_Type_Title.docx.
Papers must be original works of scholarship. Due to time limitations, individual papers will be limited to 15-20 minutes. Roundtables should be structured to fit a ninety-minute time slot. (While presenters must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in hand at the time the proposal is submitted, undergraduates may submit posters.)
Chairs/Commentators: Scholars interested in serving as chair/commentator should contact the Program Chair, Lisa Denmark, at: georgiaassociationofhistorians@gmail.com. Please include a brief description of your field/areas of expertise along with a one-page cv.
